Jesse works in the IT industry as a Program Manager for EMC Corporation.  He has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, an MBA from University of Texas, Austin and recently received his PMP certification.  Jesse's involvement with Privly started when he found the kickstarter project.  As a long time supporter of individual rights including electronic privacy, helping fund the kickstart was the easy part.  Now comes the real work of making it happen.

Jesse worked on the initial set up of the Drupal Gardens site (what you are looking at right now), and is

Local Private Key

on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 17:46

Provide an interface for generating a new private key and import an existing key. This is critical for the "full privacy" sharing but the number of prerequisites for doing this element of cryptography properly puts this farther down the development timeline. We can't make this feature publicly available until we solve a number of critical issues, like:

  • Key distribution/identity
  • Key isolation
  • Domain white lists
  • etc

Cryptographic Specification of Sharing with List of Keys

on Tue, 05/22/2012 - 17:28

We need a formal specification of the final sharing model found in this video: http://vimeo.com/39095681

Below is a starting point.

Definitions:

  • linkToken = encryption token attached to the link
  • symmetricKey = key used to encrypt content
  • publicKey = encryption key specific to each user the content will be shared with
  • privateKey = decryption key specific to each user the content was shared with

Content Creation:

  • Encrypt content with symmetricKey, send ciphertext to server
  • Generate link with linkToken on it
  • We need to share the symmetricKey with others, so they can decrypt the content

Rince

on Thu, 05/03/2012 - 05:06
  • Lives in Germany
  • On the Internet since 1993
  • Fighting for privacy since the same time (CCC, Fitug, EDRi...)
  • Has been (personal) Data Protection Officer for some years (Datenschutzbeauftragter)
  • Works with Linux, Solaris, Windows
  • Mainly Database administration
  • Has been Debian Developer for some years (and Mailinglists-Maintainer ;)

Since I can not really program (perl, bash, but no C or Java) I want to focus on translation or creating documentation. I am a technical guy, even understand some of the crypto-principles.

I'd love to help testing the final product if needed.

Sanchit is an anti-malware researcher at McCafee living in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area. He develops and maintains the Privly extension for the Opera browser. Aside from development work, he frequents websites that host crackmes to defeat protection schemes of native x86, .NET, Android and native ARM binaries. You'll often find him hiking aimlessly across the hills or at heavy metal gigs when he's away from his machine.

He can be reached on LinkedIn or through his website.
